I see a lot of servers running the awesome Xtreme4 mod and with all the map compatibility issues how about starting a thread with all the maps you’re currently running and where you've downloaded them?

I will start - our maps are in “map packs” and download through our hoster.

With XtremeMod We have tested succesfully these:

mp_village - Checked with WAR,SAB,KOTH
mp_village_night - Checked with WAR,SAB,KOTH


If new maps are added, i will update my post here.

UPDATED 15.02.2008
I propose to inform here with the gametypes we have tested those Custom Maps (because some gt's are just not supported or not working right - wrong spawns or whatever...)

We could put these all on the eXtreme FTP -- only downfall there is the bandwidth is "bottlenecked" so to download a 50meg ZIP at 100-200kb/sec might be a pain for some people

Keep in mind he is doing DoomSlayers "Fix" but i have read what Tally wrote and from what it looks like.. NOT GOOD!

Fixed.

If you take the route of bloating mod.ff, you will crash the mod on certain maps like citystreets and crossfire, as these load hundreds of models.

This was discovered by both Joker and myself during Beta testing the tools.

There is - wait for it - a ceiling of 10 meg for mod.ff. Once you go beyond that, the game wont even load.

This means bye-bye any Total Conversions as they would hit 10 meg in no time. So, bye-bye Heat of Battle! It just wont happen until IW extend the life of mod.ff.

I reported it to IW. Confirmed. What did they say? Unlikely to ever get extended as it would take a re-compile of the whole game from source.


The maps on my rotation have their own .GSC files.. Thanks to Marc from the ace mod.

The mod.ff file IS big however we have not experienced the crash issue that Tally describes.....

Well its not at its 10mb limit but with all the remakes i'm sure it will get there soon enough...... I'm going to do it the old fashion way, with the GSC if any is interest please me know and i will give you a link.

Alright 1st off here is how to do it on your own

This should work for both Ace and X4

The map is in your usermaps folder here

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\usermaps\mp_dawn_beta2

and the iwd is in the maniaxe4 mods folder here

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\mods\maniaxe4
