Multi-Language Support for extreme
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:01:47 pm »
Maybe multi-language support could be added in the next extreme. It's nicer for all players to play with their native language (if supported by cod2).

Additional it will minimize the "non-localized" errormessages in the gamelog.

I've posted this formlerly in the OLD forum thread: eXtreme+ Personal Customizations before.

---

I made a translation of extreme in my native language to get rid/minimze the "non-localized" server error messages.

Don't worry, english ist still left, e.g.:
Code: [Select]
// eXtreme+ airstrike string file
REFERENCE         READY
LANG_ENGLISH   "Airstrike ready!"
LANG_GERMAN    "Bereit zum Luftschlag!"

i left english untouched and i added my native language (german).  In this case visitors with a localised german CoD2 will experience the whole game in german, any other in english. This is also possible for other languages, e.g. LANG_FRENCH, LANG_SPAIN etc.

There is a difficulty for the extreme+ team : how can they check extreme+ is translated correctly? (german for non-germans is like pain in the ...)

It might be a good idea to start a thread for translations. So the community can check themselve. But there is one big disadvantage: the posts with all the translations will definately very long and hard-to-read. Maybe a split-up for each language might help.

Any suggestions/comments extreme+ team?

best regards, genuvine

Maybe even chinese or japanese? No this is not a piss take this is serious.

Dutch is optional as most of the dutch speaks fluent english  :D

maybe a better idea would be for those that have their language working, to post it up for us to download. then we can add it in, make sure it causes no errors, and offer it as an optional mod. if we try to add in all languages to the mod, the size would be too large an d we would have to explain to people how to remove all other languages. just a tohught, but seems like the way to go.

**EDIT** Didn't notic3e what Gixxer put above relating to addon possibility

Maybe the addon could have the following combos at the start: French / English, German / English, Russian / English, Spanish / English, and all combined into one? (5 options for the addon...plenty extensible)

Better wait for 2.3. We're going from alpha to beta in a couple of days.

I could be a little late.
Maybe the translation project is dead...
I'm also starting a translation for extreme  2.4.
The translation will be in Spanish. I would like to get some advices about it, it seems that you tried to do the translation, so I will appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Hi,
I finally have the 2.4 translation in spanish.
It's working fine and the 95% of the messages are now translated.
There are some sentences missing, probably they are not inside the localizedstrings folder.
If someone needs help, just contact me.
Thanks
