« on: October 05, 2008, 12:28:53 am »
Hey. I was wondering if anyone could help me set up a LAN server for me and my mate to play against each other.
I have read a few threads here but can't figure out exactley what it is I have to do.

What sort of hardware to I need? Things like that...

Many thanks,

For now I think that i'll just stick to stock. Don't want to make things too difficult for myself. Lol.

"First, set up a CoD2 server on your best (fastest) computer"

How do I do that?

I've set everything up that I need but the COD2 Console keeps loading up everytime I try to start the game.  :(

Any ideas?

Now that you have the console running type "status" in the console line (at the bottom).

It should respond with something like this:

]status
map: mp_trainstation
num score ping guid   name            lastmsg address               qport rate
--- ----- ---- ------ --------------- ------- --------------------- ----- -----

You must then start another copy of CoD2 (just like you normally do) and join the "Local" server.

So once I double click on the shortcut the console comes up then says:

"Resolving cod2master.activision.com
cod2master.activision.com resolved to 1.2.3.4:20700"***

(*** I blocked out the I.P. address)

The console doesn't go away. What do I do now?

double click the shortcut again and go look for your server in the game browser as a "local" type
