COD4 eXtreme mod?
« on: October 20, 2007, 09:02:12 am »
Hi,

Not sure if there has been any news or announcements etc regarding this question.
I took a quick search but couldn't find much so I'll go ahead and ask here.

Is there or are there any plans for an eXtreme mod for cod4 and if so what can we expect?

Im asking because myself and my friend have tried the cod4 demo and quite like it. We are thinking about maybe renting a cod4 server but only if we can mod it up.
Naturally our one and only choice would be the eXtreme mod should one be planned.

Any news or comments on this?

If you played the demo then you have the demo files. Open them with winrar and look around.  The maps are in a new file structure called FF (Fast Find??)

This file has no ascii characters in it except the header and Unless they release the mapping tools --  well somebody better get very clever.

So just a guess -- you wont see mapping tools until the marketing guys have chewed all the juice out of CoD4.  --- like after the release of the first expansion pak   -- IF EVER<

The .FF files are the key yes, you are right there.  By using a memory dump, you can obtain the needed files ;)  So it looks good at the moment.

We do plan on modding COD4 -- I am very optimistic that the Demo only showed up a very small piece of the pie.

So, we are planning an eXtreme+ for COD4 -- unless we hit a brick wall ;)

I also don't know where the localized strings are located... are they also in the FF-files?

I hope you will find a way to edit them!

I really want a mod for CoD4. Not cause I don't like the original CoD4 , but using a mod its easier to set up your server (just editingh cfg's etcetera)
Also want the server messages, an in-game rcon menu, server info, and all features likethat (So don't mess to much with the gameplay, *no offense*)

I look forward to eXtreme+ CoD4! (also to eXtreme+ CoD2 v2.3!!)
You guys rock!

Greetz,

kriDje.

I'd be happy if we could just disable the temporarily disable the weapons of the bunny-hoppers like we did in CoD2!

I'm in love with "set ex_stanceshoot" and I miss it in CoD4.  lol

When I say somethin' to guys that do it they say things like "it's part of CoD man.  My reply is that it doesn't have to be.

I'm afraid not much of a coder either, my skills are Linux, networking and security related.  But I'm sure the the BRIG guys would be happy to help you guys test any mods that are in alpha or beta.  We love eXtreme+ for CoD2.  It's what we always run on our servers.  :-)

I saw that you were online but didn't expect a reply so fast. Do you spend most of your workday in front of one or more computers too Joker?

*LOL*  How did you guess?

Director of IT at a large Hospital is what I do for a living -- Servers, Workstations, Blackberry, etc, etc

Once I get home, I have 3 computers I work from on mods and websites and other goodies and a separate computer for gaming ;)

LOL  Birds of a feather bro.  I'm a Network Manager and Security Analyst for a community college...  Switches, routers, firewalls, WAPs, Servers, VOIP, etc.

And like you, at have I have my gaming rig, my laptop (Linux), several servers (mostly Linux), plus my wife's computer, and the kids have one too.  My coworkers think I'm a geek because I like Linux and OpenOffice.    My wife (who was, until recently, IT faculty at that very same college) thinks I'm a geek because I like to play video games...  uhhh   A lot.   :?   LOL

Some days their's so much crap to fix, that going home feels like I never left work.  :-(

Other times, the cool stuff I occasionally get to play with at work feels like I'm on a vacation!  lol

By the way.  I pretty much stay logged into Xfire all the time.  If you use it and wanna add another geek to your friends list, my name is "wrathbrig".  Big surprise there, huh?  lol  Don't feel obligated though, I'm sure you get invitations all the time.  Either way, I've enjoyed the fellowship.  :-)
